Welcome to My Personal Page
Cassie's and my plans for riding and fundraising in a 2020 world have been drastically changed by Covid-19. Many fundraising events in the spring were cancelled or converted to virtual. It was an advantage that our cycling event is taking place in the fall because it gave us more time to adapt. It was unrealistic to plan for our normal 300-400 person ride along the Niagara Escarpment however, like other events we are offering a virtual or individual riding options. However, instead of a virtual ride, Cassie and I much prefer riding in the open air, on the City’s beautiful bike paths. We wanted to do something different, so along with a friend, Darren, we will be riding with a group of up to 20 friends on the Etobicoke bike paths on Sunday September 20. Appropriate social distancing practices will be observed!
We are Team Cassie, Larry, Darren and friends!
No surprise that COVID-19 has accelerated plans to expand Emergency care space at St. Joe’s and equip it with new technology. St. Joe’s Emergency department, before Covid-19 was already one of the busiest in Toronto. In the spring, the space was immediately adapted to address the changes required to safely and separately deal with Covid-19 patients but so much more is needed. This will be the first Emergency Department in the GTA redesigned for post Covid-19 care, accordingly it will have new treatment areas, zones that ensure social distancing, and a separate Kids' Emergency area with child-friendly touches. These changes will result in almost doubling the size of our Emergency Department with the objective of keeping patients safe. Funds raised by Cycle 4 St. Joe’s will go to this redesigned emergency care at St. Joe's. But your support will also go to other areas of the Healthcare Centre that also have important patient-care needs, including support for virtual medicine and for expanding labs so test results can be received faster than ever before.
Cassie and I are committed to raising at least $10,000 for this event! We need your help. Please support community healthcare by donating to Cycle 4 St. Joe’s. Take your pick – support either Cassie or me.
