Welcome to Larry's Personal Page
As we slowly recover from the pandemic, fundraising events are returning to “normal” and Cycle 4 St. Joe’s is no exception. The avid cyclist will return to the challenging terrain of the Niagara Escarpment leaving from the Mattamy Cycling Centre in Milton. Last year, Cassie and I, along with our friend Darren, organized a community ride staged out of the Sunnylea School. It was fun, challenging enough for occasional cyclists and so we have decided to do it again in 2021!
It is the 100th anniversary of St. Joseph's Health Centre and some people are choosing to ride 100 kilometers in honour of the 100 years of healthcare that the Sisters of St. Joseph and legions of medical professionals have provided to our west end community. I also wanted to recognize the 100th Anniversary, so this year I will ride twice – once with friends from the community as noted above and once on a 100-kilometer solo ride on another date. This year I joined the ranks of the septuagenarians so I will be taking my time with lots of breaks on my 100-kilometer journey – Cassie doesn’t know it yet, but she is going to be my mobile support team in case I encounter mechanical difficulties with my bike (or my aging body).
Funds raised by Cycle 4 St. Joe’s will go, in part, to fund the renovation of one of the busiest and most efficient Emergency departments in the City. As the first emergency department in the GTA redesigned for post Covid-19 care, it will have new larger treatment areas, and a separate Kids' Emergency area. These changes will result in almost doubling the size of our Emergency Department enabling emergency care at St. Joe's to be even more efficient. Your support will also go to other areas of the Healthcare Centre that also have important patient-care needs.
Cassie's and my goal is to raise $10,000. Please help us achieve that goal and support outstanding community healthcare.
