2024 Cycle 4 St. Joe's event with Dr. Amr El Maraghy, Upper Extremity Orthopaedic Surgeon

Thank you for taking the time to visit my donation page.

I've supported and participated in the Cycle 4 St. Joe’s annual event for the past 12 years.  St. Joe's is my local hospital in the west end of Toronto and I was lucky enough to be born there some years ago (won't mention how many).

The hospital serves many in the community and has been a great resource for me for the many sports injuries over the years.

As with any building, upgrades to both the building, departments and equipment are necessary.  Founded in 1921 with just 25 beds, it quickly grew to meet the needs of the west end community, expanding to 112 beds within a year.  Today, there are 426 beds to better serve the community.

The hospital's commitment to innovation and community needs is evident in its pioneering of services like the first pediatrics department in a general hospital (1949) and the first intensive care unit in Toronto (1962). In 1980, St. Joseph's Hospital merged with Our Lady of Mercy Hospital, forming St. Joseph's Health Centre to further enhance patient care and resource utilization.

Today, St. Joe's is a major healthcare provider in Toronto and a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto.
